Angel Of Destruction

Abaddon is the fallen angel of destruction, death and the netherworld.He appears (as a term for destruction) in the Book of Job and in John's Book of Revelation as a personification of the abyss.
Abaddon however, is firstly referred in the Old Testament as one of the six regions of Gehenna,a valley outside Jerusalem which was believed to be cursed(later it became-as a term-an interpretation for Hell).
The Book Of Revelation also cites the supposed Greek version of the name Abaddon,Apollyon(from the greek verb απόλλυμι/apollymi which means destroy).However, it should be noted that in greek texts there in no reference of Apollyon neither as a term nor as a being of destruction.
The name Apollyon that John the Apostle uses is most probably a reference to the greek god Apollo, one of the most important deities of ancient greek religion(and of the ancient world in general).

Apollo however, was a god of light:He was the god of oracles,music and poetry,youth,order,a god of great importance for both ancient greeks and romans.
So this-indirect-identification of this solar deity with the hebrew demon Abaddon is actually just another example of demonization of important pre-christian deities by christian  scholars.Typical of them....

Anyway(returning to the demon side of things), Apollyon is also the name of the amazing sophomore album of greek black metal supergroup Thou Art Lord.

Thou Art Lord's creative core is Sakis Tolis(Rotting Christ)and Magus Wampyr Daoloth(Necromantia).The vocalist in Apollyon is Gothmog from Soulskinner.
Though the basis of Apollyon's sound is black metal the greek way (ie early Rotting Christ and Necromantia) Apollyon has many blackthrash elements, placing it-in a way-next to Dodheimsgard's Monumental Possession.
The sonic equivalent of Apollyon(the demon) for sure!
